The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued an Extension of Regional Emergency Declaration No. 2026-001, effective February 3, 2026, in response to the ongoing impacts of severe winter storms and below-normal temperatures across much of the United States.
This declaration provides continued emergency relief from Parts 395.3 and 395.5 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, specifically those governing maximum driving time for property- and passenger-carrying vehicles. Relief is granted for motor carriers and drivers providing direct assistance. This extension remains in effect through 11:59 PM (ET), February 20, 2026, or until the end of the emergency, whichever occurs first.
